Warrandyte High School

Curriculum

Academic Program

Warrandyte High school offers a broad curriculum at all levels. As a school, our mission is to Challenge every learner in a safe and supportive environment. This means that the learning needs of the individual learner are our central focus. As a medium sized school, we know our students as individuals. This is not just because of our size but rather the programs and processes that we have in place to ensure that every learner is challenged.

One way that this occurs is that teams of teachers meet to symstematically track the learning progress of students and to adapt learning tasks according to their individual needs. This is unique in a secondary school setting. We have created the opportunity for all of an individual student's teachers at Years 7, 8 and 9 to meet to discuss their progress in learning. As well, we work proactively to ensure that students can pursue specialised interests in their senior years at school. Examples of this are that in 2012, we have a single student doing VET Music Investigation, two students are doing VCE Dance etc.

Individual netbook computers are available for Years 7, 8, 10 and 11 in 2012. In 2013, the last two year levels will have access to netbooks so that by February that year, all students will have an individual computer. This individual access to computers means that teaching can be tailored move to the needs of students in the 21st century.
