A balanced curriculum

The provision of a balanced curriculum is the focus for students in Years 7-9. There is a strong focus on core academic subjects such as Maths, English, Science, Humanities, LOTE (Italian) as well as the opportunity to sample a wide range of practical, technical and art based subjects. Mixed ability classes enhance the learning of all students.

Nebooks are available for all Years 7 and 8 students in 2012 and so students have individual access to a computer, which enhances opportunities for a tailormade learning program. In 2012, Year 9 students have access to the school's computer laboratories and netbooks.

In Year 7 and 8 students participate in one interdisciplinary Active Learning Project per term. The innovative projects integrate all areas of the curriculum and focus on developing personal, interpersonal, thinking and communication skills across a range of relevant and engaging topics. They run for one week each term. These also provide an opportunity for students to know the learning capacity of the whole year level.

The transition of Year 7 students is augmented by a strong home group program, which familiarises students with the ways in which our secondary school works.

Teaching in Years 8 & 9 consolidates the skills and understandings gained in Year 7 with a elective choice across a broad range of academic, practical, technical and art subjects.
