Students are encouraged and supported to achieve excellence at Warrandyte High School.
VCE Results
We are justifiably proud of our VCE results The median ENTER score has been consistent and these results compare very favourably with neighbouring schools.
Premier's Award
Congratulations to the VCE students who won the Premier's Award in 2010 for 2009; Emma Bence for Equine Studies, Keith Offer for VCE Multimedia and Kathleen Kopietz for Studio Arts.
Top Design
Simona Husvara was selected into the 2012 Top Design: VCE Season of Excellence exhibition for her animation in 2010. Previous participants were, Hope Giacoppo (2011), Jordan James-Iddles (2010) and Nathan Alexander (2007).
Top Arts
Kathleen Kopietz's brilliant wire sculpture of Ruby was selected to be part of Top Arts: VCE Season of Excellence 2010 at the National Gallery of Victoria. Over 14,000 people viewed the exhibition and Kathleen's art work was noted third prize in the People's Choice Awards.
Australian Vocational Student Awards
In 2010, the Federal Government awarded Amanda Main (Sport and Recreation) and Kathleen Kopietz (Sport and Recreation) prizes for their outstanding achievement in these fields.
VITTA Animation Senior Winner
The long tradition of excellence in the area of digital media was continued in 2010, when Xavier Longfield won the VITTA Animation Award (Senior category).
Pierre de Coubertin Sporting Award
This award acknowledges a young person who epitomises the ideals and spirit of the Olympic movement. In 2009, Ryan Holloway, went on the represent Australia at an international conference in Greece.
Community Art Projects
A group of Year 9 students worked with their Art teacher, Heather Dale and internationally reknown ceramic artist, Jane Annois, to create a wall of tiles, specifically for the Warrandyte tennis courts. This community art project was financially supported by the Lion's Club of Warrandyte.
This tradition of community involvedment with professional artists is well established. In 2011, Year 10 students created a series of Mandalas with Manningham Council and these will be exhibited in the new gallery at the new council offices. In 2008 a group of students from across all year levels collaborated with a professional artist and designed the sculpture outside the Warrandyte Police Station.
Rotary Club of Warrandyte Young Artist of the Year
Each year students are selected to exhibit their art work in the Rotary Club of Warrandyte’s Annual Art Show.
Cyber Safety Film
Four students were chosen as part of an Eastern Metropolitan Region’s CyberSafety project to create an educational film about this important issue. They did an outstanding job which was enjoyed by their target audience of fellow students.
