Career and Pathways
Careers
A professional careers advisor undertakes a variety of activities with students to ensure they are well equipped for their future beyond secondary school. These activities include guest speakers and lunchtime seminars, tours of Universities and one-on-one meetings with parents and students. All students in Years 9-12 develop a personalised pathways plan as a means to gaining further education, training or full-time employment. This plan is developed through a course counselling process that occurs with a dedicated careers team which includes the careers advisor. Up-to-date information is provided to students and parents on a regular basis via the monthly careers newsletter.
Year 10 Work Experience
Work Experience is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience the world of work, trial different pathways and gain experience, as well as secure part time employment. Work experience is also a vital component of Careers Education at Warrandyte High. All students in Year 10 organise their own Work Experience placement. Work experience typically occurs at the end of term 2 however alternative work experience times are also available.
