Support for International Students
The Assistant Principal, Mr Joseph Caruana oversees the International Student Program. He is ably supported by a number of staff within the school including a dedicated careers counsellor, student wellbeing officer and School Nurse. Each International Student is also provided with a student mentor to help them to integrate successfully within the school community.
Warrandyte High School keeps in regular contact with Homestay families, as well as parents. Official reports are provided, however, more informal contact is maintained on a regular basis through email, letters and phone calls.
Integration of students begins with a pre-arrival orientation pack which includes information on Homestay families as well as other useful information such as:
- The School Program including extra-curricular activities and opportunities
- The local area
- Transportation in the local community
- General support services available
- Australian culture
- Key policies related to your enrolment at the Warrandyte High School
Once students have arrived in Australia and are attending an English Language Program regular visits to the student from School personnel will help with settling in to their surroundings. This personal support continues once they have commenced at Warrandyte High School with regular one-on-one meetings with key wellbeing personnel.
