 Co-curricular Camps and Overseas Tours

Year 7 Camp

The Year 7 Camp is an important way that students establish a sense of belonging at Warrandyte High School. It is always held in Term 1 in order for students, who come from many different primary schools, to establish and extend friendships. In 2025, students attended the Roses Gap Camp, in the Grampians. They were accompanied by the Year 11 VET Sport and Recreation students, who acted as leaders. Once again this year, 2025, it was hugely successful! The students returned with fun filled stories of awesome activities and stories of all the new friends they made!

Year 9 Urban Adventure / City Experience

Year 9 students, as part of their “Explore” program attend a series of excursions throughout Melbourne, as well as researching an aspect of the city which culminates in a presentation. The opportunity to work in teams on this presentation means that students have a chance to take on more responsibility for their own learning. Some of the city-based activities include a self-guided tour of Federation Square, the amazing race around Melbourne, seminars on homelessness in Melbourne, tours of the MCG and Rod Laver Arena, the Shrine of Remembrance and the Magistrates Court.

Kakadu / Northern Territory

Most recently in 2025, senior school students were given the opportunity to travel to Darwin seeing our wonderful country along the way. This tour is conducted during one week of term and one week of holidays. Our tour leaves Warrandyte High School in the direction of Adelaide, Coober Pedy and experiencing sunset at Uluru, then back on the road to Alice Springs, Katherine and Kakadu National Park. Three nights in Darwin before flying back to Melbourne. This amazing experience was again be offered in 2027.

Student insights from previous tours to Kakadu:
‘The trip allowed us to see classic sites of Northern Territory like Uluru and Devils Marbles as well as places most of us wouldn’t even know about like Berri Springs’
‘King’s Canyon, which provided amazing views, interesting natural landscapes’
‘Three stunning waterfalls in Litchfield National Park, provided the perfect place to escape the warm weather for the day’
‘We visited historical and informational places, Royal Flying Doctors, Darwin’s Military Museum, Museum and Art Gallery’.

Italy

Warrandyte High School students once again travelled to Italy in 2025, visiting Rome, Sorrento along the Amalfi Coast, Le Cinque Terre along the Italian Riveria, Florence, Pisa, Sienna, Verona and Venice amongst the magical places experienced. During the trip students experienced the Vatican, a gondola ride in Venice, a pizza making class in Rome and a gelato making class in Sorrento. This amazing experience will again be offered in 2027!

Student comments from last tour:
‘Over all Rome was beautiful in a way that can’t be explained’
‘While in Florence we saw David in all his glory’
‘Venice, I think I loved Venice the most, no cars, scooters, motorbikes not even a push bike’
‘Italy was a magical place and I wish upon heaven & earth that I get to go back there one day!

China / Sister School Experience

Every two years we offer our students a life changing experience travelling and studying in China. Among the highlights are visits to Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Xi’an and a homestay experience whilst attending classes at our sister school in Suzhou
